“This park will bring much-needed open space to a growing mixed-use, transit-oriented neighborhood and will build upon our flood resiliency strategy,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “I thank the City Council, Bijou Properties, Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, and members of the community who worked together to make this possible.”
“700 Jackson is reaching for new heights as a transit-oriented, smart growth community,” said Larry Bijou, Managing Partner of Bijou Properties. “Kudos to the City of Hoboken in helping to bring this modern development to fruition.”

Bark in the Park is Liberty Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser of the year and the biggest pet festival in Hudson County! Each year hundreds of participants, vendors, and sponsors come together in Steven’s Park in Hoboken to celebrate the work (and the animals!) of LHS.
Visitors enjoy a celebratory dog-walk/parade, live entertainment, a free bounce-house & children’s activities, and delicious food & awesome vendors throughout the day! As part of this year’s celebration, the LHS is offering free adoptions of cats and dogs until Sunday, Sept. 25. “Every contribution towards Bark in the Park goes to support LHS’s care of homeless animals who otherwise wouldn’t get the care they need to thrive,” shelter staff wrote in an email newsletter. Liberty Humane Society first started the annual Bark in the Park fundraiser 11 years ago to celebrate shelter animals while also raising the funding that is critical for their care. Since municipal funding only covers about a seven-day stay for our animals, the donations that are raised at this event provide for everything their animals need to find their forever homes including: medication, vaccinations, spay/neuter, adoption and foster programs, training and enrichment. Your involvement in Bark in the Park is what turns these lost souls into happy, loving companions for their future adopters. If you can’t attend, you can still donate on the Liberty Humane Society website.
We hope that you will join us in fundraising for Bark in the Park 2015!

The rewards of gardening are great — fresh air, exercise, beauty and relaxation, to name a few. But designing and planting your very first garden can feel like an overwhelming task. Luckily, gardens are surprisingly forgiving creations, and the best way to learn is by simply diving in. It’s hot outside, and in the midst of planning your July barbecue and prepping the pool for months of heavy use, remember that your plants are also waiting for a cool summer drink. Water, prune, feed and plant; before you know it fall will be here. And while you’re doing all that, enjoy your summer garden too, admiring your edible bounty while keeping an eye out for any signs of plant stress. Here are 10 tips to help get a new garden off on the right foot.
